Cleveland, OH Medical Malpractice Attorney

Since becoming a licensed attorney in 1988, Mr. Hupp has built a distinguished litigation career with a particular emphasis on medical malpractice defense. He began trying these cases in 1990 and, over the past three and a half decades, has consistently demonstrated skill and effectiveness in the courtroom. As first chair counsel in more than one hundred jury trials, Mr. Hupp has secured favorable outcomes in all but nine, including two notable defense verdicts in cases where liability had been admitted. Throughout Ohio, Mr. Hupp is frequently retained to serve as trial counsel in complex cases involving catastrophic injuries and wrongful death. His courtroom successes span a wide range of medical disciplines, including cardiology, emergency medicine, general and colorectal surgery, internal medicine, and cases involving narcotic overdoses. He has developed a strong focus on cases related to strokes, heart attacks, pulmonary emboli, breast cancer, and colon cancer. A significant portion of Mr. Hupp’s current practice is devoted to representing long-term care providers such as rehabilitation hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. He has taken two nursing home negligence cases to jury trial and prevailed in both. Early in his legal career, Mr. Hupp served as a law clerk to the Honorable Blanche Krupansky on the Eighth District Court of Appeals. He has since handled appellate matters before the United States Supreme Court, the Ohio Supreme Court, the Federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and multiple Ohio District Courts. Mr. Hupp has held an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell — the highest available — since the age of 34. He has also been recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyer for fifteen consecutive years.
